Angove Family Winemakers, Shiraz 2011, Warboys Vineyard, McLaren Vale, Australia

Tasting Note: A shiraz with a fruity midpalate and concentration on the finish.

Deep-intensity ruby in color, this wine has an aromatic, medium-plus-intensity nose of raspberry, blackberry puree, strawberry blossom, orange citrus peel and red cherry.

On the palate the dry, medium-plus-bodied shiraz is silky in texture with medium-plus-intensity flavors suggested on the nose supported by medium acidity and well-integrated, ripe, medium-plus tannin ultimately completing with a long finish and a hint of vanilla baking spice.

There is midpalate complexity and depth of flavor.

Perfumed aromatics with enjoyable structure.

Bottle Note: Careful selection of specific sites within our McLaren Vale vineyard and handcrafting in the winery has resulted in wines that are a true expression of time, place and variety. This shiraz has been sourced from an area in the “mid-south” section of the vineyard adjacent to our cellar door. With a northerly aspect that receives cooling breezes from the nearby Gulf St. Vincent and soils comprising of sand and alluvial loam with a limestone core this wine shows abundant spicy plum and elegant red berry notes. Maturation in French oak barrels and rigorous selection has resulted in an exquisitely harmonious wine that will age well for years to come. Bottled September 2012 – 275 cases made.
