Ca’ Rozzeria, Barbera D’Alba 2015, Piedmont, Italy

Tasting Note: A delightful barbera that punches above its weight.

Medium-intensity ruby in color, this wine has a medium-plus-intensity nose of red cherry, raspberry and cranberry.

On the palate the dry, medium-plus-bodied barbera delivers flavors suggested on the nose supported by medium-plus acidity and ripe, medium-plus tannin that ultimately completes with a medium-plus finish.

Bottle Note: The cellar of every artisan winemaker has its secrets, or better yet, its extra parts: an additional cask or an unallocated single vineyard. Most time, these wines are whisked off to another cellar to become something else. Their soul, story and origins are lost forever. Ca’ Rozzeria is the body shop (carrozzeria) which allows the grower to bottle his extras just as they are and stick with his story to the end. The wine leaves its cellar with a different look in label only and remains just as the grower intended it. Ca’ Rozzeria wines are always estate bottled by the growers who made them.
