Codorníu Anna Blanc de Blancs Brut Reserva Cava – A Chardonnay-Dominated Cava

Codorníu, Anna Blanc de Blancs Brut Reserva Cava, Catalonia, Spain, Wine Casual

Codorníu, Anna Blanc de Blancs Brut Reserva Cava, Catalonia, Spain

Tasting Note: Codorníu created the first chardonnay-dominated cava back in the 1980s.

This is good bottle to compare to cava made from traditional grape varieties to see which style you enjoy more.

Pale-intensity, lemon-to-gold in color, this wine has an aromatic, medium-intensity nose of green-apple slice, brioche, blossom, white nectarine, melon and pear.

On the palate the dry, medium-bodied cava is medium in acidity, alcohol and flavor intensity.

You can definitely taste the green apple elements in this sparkling wine which evoke classic chardonnay flavors.

This cava would work well as a sparkling wine alternative to serve to a group of friends whom you know enjoy non-sparkling chardonnay.

Bottle Note: Anna Blanc de Blancs is a pure, lively sparkling wine celebrating the life of the heiress to Spain’s original winemaking dynasty, Codorníu. Produced authentically, Méthode Traditionnelle, using only our finest, estate-grown fruit, Anna is fruity and crispy flavors are enhanced with a minimum of 15 months of aging. This dry sparkling wine pairs well with food. 70% Chardonnay, 15 Parellada, 7.5% Xarel-lo, 7.5% Macabeu.
