Concha Y Toro, Casillero del Diablo Reserva Malbec 2014, Central Valley, Chile

Tasting Note: A grippy, fruit-forward malbec with oak aging.

Purple in color this malbec has an aromatic nose of smoky red plum, blueberry and red currant mixed with some vanilla baking spice, leather and cedar.

On the palate the dry red is medium in body, tannin and acidity with a grippy mouthfeel and dashes of tartness on the finish.

This malbec would pair well with grilled meats and dishes with a smoky component.

Bottle Note: Winemaker’s Note – A robust malbec with intense, dark fruits, black pepper and vanilla. Full bodied, fresh and fruity it has a long, mouth-watering finish. Food Match – Great with grilled meats and roasted vegetables. More than 100 years ago, Don Melchor de Concha Toro reserved for himself an exclusive batch of his best wines. To keep strangers away from his private reserve, he spread the rumor that the devil lived in that place. Hence the name: Casillero del Diablo, “the devils cellar.”
