Domaine de la Colline Chinon 2013 – An Average Chinon

Domaine de la Colline, Chinon 2013, Loire, France

Tasting Note: An average Chinon.

This ruby-colored Chinon has an earthy nose of under-ripe violet, wet leaves, crushed dried rose petals and green vegetables underpinned by dry black fruit including blackberry and red plum.

On the palate, the wine is light to medium in body and flavor intensity.

The Chinon’s impact is greater on the nose than the palate.

Tannin is more soft than supple affording some astringency while allowing the fruit to reveal itself underneath a layer of lace that somewhat obscures the full fruit experience.

All in all an average Chinon experience for the region, but that too has its virtues.

Bottle Note: Made from 100% cabernet franc in stainless steel to preserve all the fresh fruit character. Beautiful crisp fruit tones are complemented by light earthy nuances. This a true country wine to enjoy either at room temperature of slightly chilled with a wide range of dishes including salads and roasted chicken.
