Domaine Durieu, Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Rhone, France

Tasting Note: A sultry Châteauneuf-du-Pape with elegant fruit and a taunt, delicious body.

Medium-intensity ruby in color, this wine has an aromatic nose of black plum, red currant, raspberry, bramble, violet and cinnamon baking spice.

On the palate the dry, medium-plus-bodied Châteauneuf-du-Pape is silky in texture with red-and-black fruit suggested on the nose supported by medium acidity and ripe, medium tannin.

The is balance between the fruit and the tannin structure, midpalate complexity and depth.

Wall Street Journal writers, Dorthy Gaiter and John Breecher love having Châteauneuf-du-Pape on rainy days, and I am too on this rainy, summer evening that feels a bit like fall.
