Tasting Note: It’s rare you’ll find these two grapes – cabernet franc and lemberger – in the same bottle; sattle-up for something new.

Medium-intensity ruby in color with garnet edges, this wine has a nose of red currant, red plum, wild strawberry and winery-fermentation-room floor.

On the palate the dry, medium-bodied wine continues red-fruit flavors suggested on the nose along with a wildflower-blossom influence.

The lemberger overwhelms the cabernet franc in the blend, but the floral elements of the latter still remain.

I like winemakers who experiment; here’s to more experimentation!

Bottle Note: 60% Cabernet Franc, 40% Lemberger. Together, these two classic grape varieties become a new and exciting wine: a seamless blend that is rich and delicious and oh so drinkable. This succulent wine perfectly complements rare beef tenderloin, rotisserie chicken, pepper steak, baby back rib, grilled portabellos and garlicky bruschetta. Fox Run Vineyards is a family-owned winery open year round for tastings and tours.
