Karanika Xinomavro 2013 – Has Flavor Intensity and a Good Acid Structure

Karanika, Xinomavro 2013, Amyntaio, Greece, Wine Casual

Karanika, Xinomavro 2013, Amyntaio, Greece

Tasting Note: Medium-intensity ruby in color, this wine has an aromatic nose of raspberry, red cherry and black plum with notes of sweet-clove baking spice.

On the palate the dry, medium-plus bodied xinomavro is medium-plus in flavor intensity, acidity and finish.

The wine has flavors of red fruit and earth along with ripe, medium-minus tannin and can be enjoyed now or could benefit from additional age.

The wine is very good in quality because of its flavor intensity and acid structure.

Bottle Note: 60-100 year-old vines. Unfiltered dry red wine. Xinomavro 100%. Karinika’s red flagship is made from our oldest vines; ungrafted 60-100 year old Xinomavro from the sandy plateau of Amyntaio. Ancient history in a bottle. Vinified and aged in old barriques without the use of any additives. Wild fermented and unfiltered. The resulting wine is very aromatic, medium bodied with an extreme long finish. It has the typical xinomavro aromas of raspberry, violets, wild roses and spices. Many but ripe tannins. Can age for decades but is ready to drink.
