La Maialina, Chianti Classico Riserva DOCG 2009, Tuscany, Italy

Tasting Note: A sangiovese that shows its age and vibrancy – deliciously.

Medium-intensity ruby in color, this wine has a nose of black cherry, violet, raspberry, black plum and vanilla baking spice.

On the palate the sangiovese is medium in body with soft ripe red and black fruit suggested on the nose continuing to the palate as flavors.

The wine balances high acidity and ripe fruit which is decidedly ripe and not overripe as some Chiantis are.

The wine finishes with tart yet ripe black fruit supported by ripe medium tannin.

An elegant sangiovese that refreshes your palate.

Bottle Note: La Maialina celebrates the history, culture and cuisine of Chianti, prized since antiquity for its rich soil and favorable climate. Rolling hillsides lend themselves to the optimal cultivation of grapes, ripening to perfection during the dry, warm summers. The La Maialina wines express the essence of Tuscany and the tradition of quality that defines this historic region. The name of La Maialina (little pig) references the Cinta Senese heirloom breed that originated in the Siena area during the 1300’s and is the only Tuscan native pig to survive extinction.
