Maitre de Chai Cuvee Signee, Chinon 2014, Chinon, Loire, France

Tasting Note: An enjoyable, inky, food-friendly, French cabernet franc that would go well with dinner parties.

This ruby to purple-colored Chinon made from cabernet franc has a nose of black fruit (80%) underpinned by a layer of red fruit (20%).

There is blackberry, black cherry and black currant with underpinnings of red cherry.

The wine has earthy, wet leaf, crushed dried rose petals, forest floor aromas with hints of cedar and wet hay.

On the palate the wine is medium plus in tannin which immediately strikes you on the attack and will make you pucker (happily).

At the 40% point of the taste, restrained black fruit kicks in through to a medium finish that has some violet and dried rose petal floral notes.

Simply delicious.
