Oakville East, Franc ‘N Stern Cabernet Franc 2013, Oakville, Napa Valley, California

Tasting Note: A cabernet franc that tilts toward the dominant Napa cab franc style while retaining its own restrained fruit identity.

Ruby in color, this wine has a nose of red cherry and Nyquil complete with mint-like aromas and hints of red currant.

On the palate the dry, medium-bodied cabernet franc reveals subtle, aged fruit along with medium tannin that gives the wine structure without being overpowering.

Bottle Note: Our west facing hillside in the famous Oakville AVA is a ‘Boris’ like combination of soil, elevation, microclimate and exposure that stiches together a monstrously complex animated wine. A shockingly mischievous elegance in the fiendish tannin structure and grotesquely bright mid palate fruit excites horror in those unfamiliar with our miscreant cabernet franc. Besides, this was the only way to get my name “Stern” on the label.
