Offley White Port – Concentrated White-Fruit Flavors

Offley, White Port, Douro, Portugal, Wine Casual

Offley, White Port, Douro, Portugal

Tasting Note: White Port offers an alternative for those who are looking for concentrated white-fruit flavors in a post-dinner drink or something sweet to mix with a sparkling wine for a kir-styled drink.

This bottle from a major producer from the Taylor Fladgate Partnership reveals what is lovely about this style of wine which for the production quality is quite affordable.

Medium-intensity amber in color, this wine has medium-plus-intensity aromas of green raisin, apple, cooked pear, honey, caramel and marmalade.

On the palate the medium-sweet, full-bodied white Port is high in alcohol with medium-plus-intensity flavors suggested on the nose along with dried apple and apricot.

The fortified wine is medium in acidity with a creamy mouthcoating texture that completes with a long finish.

The Port is very good in quality because of its flavor concentration and complexity.

Bottle Note: Offley, a pioneering, contemporary Porto wine brand with almost 3 centuries of heritage and experience, became famous due to Joseph J. Forrester, who was later bestowed with the title of Baron by king of Portugal, for his fundamental role in the expansion of both Offley and the Porto wine. This rich white has a deep aroma dominated by floral, apricot and peach, marmalade and dry fruit notes. It should be served chilled with varied starters or on the rocks, with tonic water and lemon, in a long glass, as an aperitif.
