Quinta Das Carvalhas, Late Bottled Vintage (LBV) Port 2012, Portugal

Tasting Note: If you enjoy Late Bottle Vintage Port this one is a gem.

Deep-intensity purple in color, this wine has an aromatic nose of black plum, black currant, blackberry, cinnamon baking spice, violet and fig.

On the palate the medium-sweet, full-bodied LBV Port delivers concentrated, medium-plus-intensity flavors suggested on the nose supported by medium acidity and ripe, medium-plus tannin.

The Port finishes with a long, black-fruit infused finish.

This Port is very good in quality because of its mid-palate complexity and depth of the flavor.

A fortified wine to try again.

Bottle Note: This is one of the oldest Quintas in the Douro Valley, as well as one of the best located. Written references about Quinta Das Carvalhas describing its prominent position on the left bank of the Douro River can be tracked back to 1759.
