Red Newt Cellars, Cabernet Franc 2012, Finger Lakes, New York, Wine Casual

Red Newt Cellars, Cabernet Franc 2012, Finger Lakes, New York

Tasting Note: This cabernet franc has a deep ruby color, one of the deepest in the Finger Lakes.

Strawberry candy, red cherry and hints of chocolate play on the nose of the wine.

Aromas on the nose continue to the palate.

Additional notes of cassis and red currant reveal on the palate. The dry wine is medium-bodied and medium-plus in acidity and finish.

Red Newt’s cab franc is an able palate cleanser and fits in the fuller-bodied spectrum of cab franc from the region.

Bottle Note: Cabernet franc is quickly becoming a signature red wine variety for the Finger Lakes. Delicate leather and dark raspberry show elegantly in a nose that is complex and ethereal. Cranberry and dark plum flavors on the palate combine with overtones of smoke and spice, producing a wine that is understated and approachable. This fruit forward wine is showing well young and will age beautifully with increasing depth and complexity. Enjoy with seared duck breast in a garlic-cherry relish. Red Newt Cellars Winery & Bistro is committed to producing exceptional vinifera wines and creating innovative regional cuisine that express the personality and sense of place of Finger Lakes vineyards and communities. RS 0.1%, TA 6.1 g/l, pH 3.70.
