Tasting Note: A smooth-drinking gewürtz with depth of flavor that impresses.

This golden-colored gewürztraminer has a nose of late-harvest green apple, pear, lychee, pineapple and mango with just a hint of ginger.

The aromas on the nose continue to the palate with the green apple and pear flavors in the lead.

This gewürztraminer is medium-plus bodied with medium acidity holding the wine together. The finish on the wine is medium-plus to long.

What particularly stands out about Red Newt’s gewürztraminer is that it presents more than just the typical gewürztraminer varietal profile; it also present depth, complexity and richness.

My compliments to the terroir, the vineyard manager, and winemaker – whatever you did to create this delicious golden exlir – job well done.

Bottle Note: Ideal growing conditions at Sawmill Creek Vineyards have allowed wine grower Jim Hazlitt to capture the exquisite spice and complexity that typifies gewürztraminer in the Finger Lakes. Delicate but intense orange peel, spice and floral aromas combined with flavors of ripe pear and lychee balance a palate this is rich, creamy and elegant. RS: 0.4%, TA: 5.6 g/l, pH 3.4.
