Stellenrust, Barrell Selection Cabernet Franc 2015, Stellenbosch, South Africa

Tasting Note: Medium-intensity ruby in color this wine has an aromatic nose of red plum, red cherry, some forest floor notes and hints of graphite.

On the palate, the dry medium-plus bodied cabernet franc has grippy, medium-plus tannin and basic, varietal flavors.

This wine has flavor concentration but lacks mid-palate complexity, though this could develop with further aging.

Bottle Note: Situated in Stellenbosch, the heart of South Africa’s wine industry, lies the family cellar of Stellenrust. Here time honored traditions and select wines have led to the family motto: “where excellence meets winemaking.” This wine shows red cherries and tobacco spice on the nose. The palate is medium bodied filled with cedar oak, cigar box and black currant culminating on a savory finish. Matured in small French oak barrels for 18 months.
