Sunce Winery & Vineyard, Winemaker’s Reserve Les Trois Amis 2013, Sonoma County, California
Tasting Note: A sangiovese-based red blend with structure and depth that is uniquely Californian in style but with a Super-Tuscan nod.
Deep-intensity ruby in color, this wine has an aromatic, medium-plus-intensity nose of red cherry, strawberry, black plum, blackberry and cinnamon baking spice.
On the palate the dry, full-bodied red blend has concentrated, medium-plus-intensity flavors suggested on the nose with more expressive black-fruit.
There is complexity in the midpalate as well as medium acidity, and ripe, smooth, medium-plus tannin.
A delicious vintage of a red blend that impresses both with its flavor intensity and concentration.
Bottle Note: Sunce is a family winery located in the Russian River Valley appellation of Sonoma County – specializing in small artisan lots of vineyard designated varietal wine and classic blends. Enjoy our unique Tuscan-style blend of 37% sangiovese, 33% merlot, and 30% cabernet sauvignon. The merlot adds an element of velvety plum fruit with hints of clove and cinnamon, the cabernet sauvignon adds a dimension of tannin and structure, while the sangiovese chimes in with flavors of black cherries with notes of white pepper offering a long, silky finish. This wine is an excellent complement to hearty pasta dishes in a tomato-based sauce with meat or sausage, and especially pairs nicely with Osso Buco. Frane Franicevic, Winemaker. Only 275 cases made.
