Tasting Note: A Bordeaux blend that raises the profile of cabernet franc in a way the will please and impress cab-franc lovers who prefer cab-franc-led Bordeaux blends.

Deep-intensity ruby in color, this wine has an aromatic, medium-plus-intensity nose of black plum, violet, bramble and blackberry.

On the palate the dry, full-bodied red blend has medium-plus-intensity flavors suggested on the nose supported by medium acidity and ripe, medium-plus tannin.

The wine has midpalate complexity, body and muscle.

Bottle Note: 49% Cabernet Franc, 39% Cabernet Sauvignon, 9% Merlot, 3% Malbec. The Gimblett Gravels winegrowing area is a small sub-region in the Hawke’s Bay of New Zealand defined by a very unique stony soil type. Deposited by a wandering river these soils have been internationally recognized for their potential to produce premium wines of individual character and personality. Our premium Hawkes Bay red blend, The Gimblett, is crafted from four grape varieties. The exceptional 2014 vintage combined with traditional winemaking techniques have created beautiful aromatics of ripe cassis, cedar wood, blackberry and tobacco. This wine is silky, complex and full bodied. This excellent structure will allow the wine to age gracefully and develop further complexity over the next 6 to 8 years. A particularly good food match with red meats.
