Tasting Note: Taste purple with this bottle of zweigelt that is a perfect wine to enjoy in summer on the porch.

Medium-to-deep-intensity purple in color, this wine has an aromatic nose of red plum, raspberry, red currant, strawberry and violet blossom.

On the palate the dry, medium-plus-bodied zweigelt delivers tart red-and-black fruit flavors suggested on the nose supported by medium-plus acidity.

The wine has concentration and a wild, indigenous-yeast-ferment character running through it.

The zweigelt has a velvety texture with slightly-grippy, medium plus tannin.

Bottle Note: For many decades the Umathum estate of the Burgenland region in Austria stands for wine and filigree handiwork, for craftsmanship of the highest order. Seated in the warm and sunny clime of Frauenkirchen, Josef Umathum works the land on both sides of Lake Neusiedl. Picked late at stringently reduced yields, Umathum’s wines offer splendid and idiomatic examples of wine that can only come from this place.
