Domaine Albert Mann, Hengst Pinot Gris 2013, Alsace Grand Cru, France
Tasting Note: A standout pinot gris.
Lemon yellow in color this wine has a nose of muted melon and peach stone fruit.
On the palate the dry, medium-plus bodied pinot gris abounds with structure and fore-palate complexity completing with a long finish.
You can feel some of the alcohol heat but it does not distract but rather enhances the wine giving it added lift combined with the wine’s medium-acidity.
Bottle Note: Managed by the Barthelme family the estate covers 21 hectares. Five Grand Crus form the heart and soul of the Domaine: the Schlossberg, the Furstrentum, the Hengst, the Steingrubler and the Pfersigberg. Field Names Altenbourg and Rosenberg complete these prestigious soils, as well as Close de la Faille.
