Anton Bauer, Feuersbrunn Zweigelt 2013, Wagram, Austria
Tasting Note: This zweigelt drinks like a young, Northern-Rhône syrah on holiday in Burgundy.
Medium-intensity purple in color, this wine has an aromatic nose of red currant, red cherry, orange-citrus peel and red plum with hints of that primal, red-fruit quality one gets from Northern-Rhône syrah.
On the palate the dry, medium-plus bodied zweigelt delivers red fruit flavors suggested on the nose along with hints of apricot stone fruit backed by medium-plus acidity and ripe, slightly-velvety, medium tannin.
There is concentration and midpalate complexity.
