Apaltagua, Envervo Gran Reserva Carmenere 2012, Colchagua Valley, Chile
Tasting Note: Opaque and dark purple in color this aromatic carmenere has a nose filled with black fruit including blackberry, black plum, raspberry and some earthy, forest floor aromas.
On the palate the smooth, full-bodied red is medium-plus in acidity and tannin with the tannic character asserting itself most beginning mid-palate through to a long finish.
A fine expression of the grape in a primarily fruit-driven form absent green pepper elements common in many Chilean carmeneres.
Bottle Note: Enervo is made from carmenere and cabernet sauvignon grapes grown in our 60 years old vineyards in Apalto; this is one of Chile’s premiere areas for the growing of red wine grapes. In order to preserve as much of the purity of this wine, it was subjected to minimal handling prior to bottling. 90% carmenere, 10% cabernet sauvignon.
