Arraigo Benegas, Cabernet Franc 2016, Mendoza, Argentina

Tasting Note: A vibrant, full-bodied, warm-weather cabernet franc that presents the riper style of the grape in Argentina which is developing its own cab franc style.

Deep-intensity purple in color, this wine has an aromatic, medium-plus-intensity nose of black plum, black cherry, raspberry puree, bramble and violet.

On the palate the dry, full-bodied cabernet franc is filled with generous-black-fruit flavors suggested on the nose supported by medium acidity and slightly-grippy, medium-plus tannin.

There is balance between the fruit and tannin structure and notes of midpalate complexity.

A good entry-level bottle from a notable, Argentinean producer.

Bottle Note: Elegant and spicy cabernet franc made from grapes from our old Finca Libertad, located in the upper bank of Mendoza River. Excellent zone in what used to be the bed of the river. Poor soil with plenty of stones and pebbles. Traditional flood irrigation and vines on their own original root. Winemaker: Federico Benegas Lynch. Aging: 12 months in French oak casks. 100% Cabernet Franc.
