Atwater Estates Vineyards, Skin Fermented Chardonnay 2014, Seneca Lake, Finger Lakes, New York
Tasting Note: A purposefully orange-colored chardonnay that offers the experience to try a white wine that was aged with its skins employing an ancient method of winemaking.
Yep, wine for wine geeks.
Orange in color this wine has a nose of apricot stone fruit, green apple, pineapple and surprising notes of red cherry.
On the palate the dry, medium-plus bodied chardonnay expresses stone fruit flavors on the attack.
The wine has a creamy mouthfeel with medium acidity with hints of mid-palate complexity.
Some of the grapes skins are laced throughout the bottle so you will find these flickering throughout your glass if you hold it to the sun.
Bottle Note: 15th Anniversary Celebration, Seneca Lake. Skin-fermented, barrel aged, unfiltered.
