Bastianich, Tocai Friuliano Plus 2006, Colli Orientali del Friuli, Friuli-Venezia Giulia, Italy
Tasting Note: You will immediately be drawn to this wine from Friuliano once you pour your first glass.
Medium-intensity amber in color this wine has a pronounced nose with secondary and tertiary aromas of honey, dried apple, dried apricot, stewed pear, cedar and toast.
On the palate the dry, full-bodied, creamy-textured wine is high in acidity and pronounced in flavor intensity with aromas on the nose continuing to the palate as flavors along with golden apple.
The wine balances ripe fruit flavors with acidity that lifts the wine and doesn’t struggle with but rather compliments its body.
This wine would be perfect to serve after dinner with hard cheeses or pair with a risotto dish as I am enjoying tonight.
