Bleasdale Vineyards, Uncle Dick The Red Brute Sparkling Shiraz, Langhorne Creek, Australia
Tasting Note: Sparkling shiraz is the big brother of sparkling reds, and this bottle shows you exactly why it deserves that spot.
Deep-intensity purple in color, this wine has an aromatic, medium-plus-intensity nose of black plum, raspberry, black currant, black cherry and violet.
On the palate the medium-dry, full-bodied sparkling shiraz delivers ripe, black-fruit flavors suggested on the nose along with white pepper.
The wine has a long finish, medium-acidity and a creamy texture.
A yummy sparkler with hair on its chest and lots of rippling body that would pair well with barbecue and a host of meats.
Bottle Note: Built in 1892, the massive red gum press fascinated a young Richard Potts (later to be known as Uncle Dick) our founder Frank Potts’ youngest son. It was said by some that Uncle Dick would watch as the giant lever was raised by a team of bullocks, gently crushing the premium grapes held in basket presses. Uncle Dick had his own name for this unique press. He called it the “Red Brute.” Paul Hotker – Winemaker.
