Bodegas As Laxas, Albariño 2015, Rías Baixas, Spain
Tasting Note: A lighter-styled Spanish white for summer sipping.
Lemon in color, this Albariño has delicate aromatics with a nose of light green fruit.
On the palate the light-bodied white reveals soft, tart green fruit as suggested on the nose
Bottle Note: Produced entirely from Albariño grapes grown in our 13 acre estate vineyards in the province of Galicia along the Atlantic coast in northwest Spain. Our family has owned the bodega since 1862. Our vineyards are terraced on the steep mountainside with a southern exposure along the Miño River. The vines grow along granite trellises to protect the clusters of grapes from the moist soil that remains damp from the high humidity in the coastal trade winds. We harvest the grapes in early autumn and lightly press them only once to yield the lightest and highest quality juice. The cold fermentation occurs in stainless steel tanks where the temperature is monitored and controlled. Our family’s dedication to quality is rewarded with rich, yet soft wine with its floral bouquet, juicy flavors of peaches and green apples with buttery notes. The bright acidity carries the flavor through the long soft finish. Ideal with any flavorful seafood, poultry, or delicious white meat dish. Serve chilled.
