Chalk Hill Estate, Estate Chardonnay 2017, Chalk Hill, Sonoma, California
Tasting Note: The chardonnay you bring to a chardonnay-lover’s home and they make sure to steal a second glass when no one is looking.
Medium-intensity lemon in color, this wine has an aromatic, medium-plus-intensity nose of quince, pear, starfruit and blossom with just the slightest, well-integrated hint of vanilla baking spice.
On the palate the dry, full-bodied chardonnay is creamy in texture with medium-intensity flavors suggested on the nose supported by medium acidity and completing with a medium-plus finish.
There is midpalate complexity, body and balance between the fruit components.
A fine chardonnay with flavor intensity.
Bottle Note: Chalk Hill is located in the Chalk Hill appellation of the Russian River Valley. This wine is hand-crafted from grapes grown exclusively on the estate. Each variety is matched to specific sites and mesoclimates; gentle winemaking practices capture the diversity of each vineyard block, resulting in wines of distinction and elegance. This wine was bottled unfiltered to preserve its unique and natural character. -Courtney Foley, Winemaker
