Chateau de la Crée, Les Tourelles de la Crée Montagny Premier Cru 2016, Burgundy, France
Tasting Note: A Montagny Premier Cru chardonnay that combines just-ripened orchard fruit with the lightest, judicious use of oak.
Pale-intensity lemon in color, this wine has an aromatic, medium-plus-intensity nose of bosc pear, quince, fuji apple and lemon zest with just the slightest hint of vanilla baking spice.
On the palate the dry, medium-plus-bodied chardonnay has a creamy, buttery texture with medium-intensity flavors suggested on the nose supported by medium acidity and completing with a fuji-apple-infused medium finish.
There is midpalate complexity and balance between the fruit and acid structure.
A chardonnay for those who savor chardonnay and oak restraint.
Bottle Note: Crafted by Chateau de la Crée, the venerable 15th century wine estate, Les Tourelles de la Crée offers a pure and authentic expression of Burgundy. This Burgundian region of Montagny has a rich and storied winemaking history and dedicated to growing and producing Premier Cru chardonnay. Its limestone-rich soils yield white wines of sophistication, and consistently high quality. This wine’s balance of freshness and structure make it an ideal accompaniment to a broad spectrum of sophisticated cuisines.
