Château du Cros, Loupiac 2016, France
Tasting Note: A sweet Bordeaux that has all the lusciousness you love in Sauternes but at a fraction of the price from the under-the-radar, Loupiac region of France.
Deep-intensity gold in color, this wine has an aromatic, pronounced-intensity nose of dried apricot, pineapple, orange marmalade, mango and stewed apple with hints of lychee and white peach.
On the palate the luscious, full-bodied sweet Bordeaux has medium-plus-intensity flavors suggested on the nose with a mouthcoating body supported by medium-plus acidity and completing with an apricot-infused, long finish.
The wine is heaving with complexity and plushness across the entire length of the taste.
Substitute this wine for dessert or mix with sparkling wine for a fresh aperitif.
