Chateau St. Jean, Cold Creek Ranch Single Vineyard Chardonnay 2015, Sonoma Coast, California
Tasting Note: A creamy, opulent chardonnay abounding with candied elements.
Medium-intensity gold in color, this wine has an aromatic, medium-plus-intensity nose of butterscotch, caramel, nectarine, marmalade, stewed apple and quince.
On the palate the dry, full-bodied chardonnay has medium-plus-intensity, golden-fruit flavors supported by medium acidity and completing with a medium-plus finish.
The wine is creamy in texture with some hints of vanilla.
A chardonnay to pair with a substantial dish especially dishes with creamy or rich sauces.
Bottle Note: The Cold Creek Ranch is tucked away in the coveted Sonoma Coast appellation where maritime influences produce chardonnay with forward fruit flavors and bright acidity. Ten months of aging in French oak add a creamy texture to the wine that complements the concentrated pineapple, lemon and coconut notes from the chardonnay grapes. -Margo Van Staveren, Winemaker.
