Concannon Vineyard, Reserve Chardonnay 2015, Livermore Valley, California
Tasting Note: Concannon’s chardonnay is one of the most elegant versions of restrained, lightly-oaked chardonnay you can find.
Medium-intensity gold in color, this wine has a nose of vanilla-and-clove baking spice and green-apple fruit.
On the palate the dry, medium-plus-bodied chardonnay has elegant vanilla flavors that are balanced with the wine’s green-fruit character.
There is midpalate complexity and balance.
Bottle Note: Roots. Rocks. Intrigue. Since 1883, Concannon Vineyard has handcrafted intriguing wines from grapes grown along California’s Central Coast in the San Francisco Bay area. Our Livermore Valley estate sits atop a 600-foot-deep bed of gravelly soil which encourage the vines to concentrate flavors on the ripening fruit. Our reserve chardonnay is rich in flavors of crisp green apple, melon and peach. Following barrel fermentation and sur lie aging, the wine was aged for 10 months in barriques to produce the rich creamy texture evident in this classically styled chardonnay. Enjoy with dishes like spinach-filled tortellini or sesame-crusted salmon. – John Concannon, 4th Generation Vintner.
