Concha Y Toro, Marques de Casa Concha Chardonnay 2016, Limari, Chile

Tasting Note: A chardonnay that competes with Burgundy and Napa, and at a much better price point.

Lightly-oaked it has well-balanced green fruit and baking spice.

Pale-intensity lemon in color, this wine has aromatic nose of green apple, pear, vanilla-baking spice, honeysuckle and lemon citrus.

On the palate the dry, medium-plus-bodied chardonnay has medium-plus-intensity flavors suggested on the nose along with some brioche and biscuit.

The wine is medium in acidity with midpalate complexity ultimately completing with a citrus-infused medium-plus finish.

Bottle Note: This chardonnay is from Quebrada Seca Vineyard, planted 18 miles from the Pacific Ocean on the northern bank of the Limari River. This limited-production wine was fermented and aged in French oak barrels. Striking mineral notes and pear aromas are typical of this part of the Limari Valley north of Santiago. The oak lends generous notes of vanilla and hazelnut to the full and vibrant palate, and crisp acidity extends onto the long finish.
