Concha Y Toro, Serie Riberas Gran Riserva Malbec 2014, Ribera del Tinguiririca, Marchigue, Chile
Tasting Note: A malbec that drinks elegantly and shows ripeness restraint.
Deep-intensity purple in color, this malbec has an aromatic nose of violet, black plum, forest floor and blossom with some black cherry notes and vanilla baking spice.
On the palate the dry, medium-plus-bodied malbec has a silky texture with ripe, well-integrated, medium tannin.
There is balance between fruit and tannin.
Quite a lovely malbec that also benefits from bottle aging demonstrating malbec’s ageability.
Bottle Note: The majestic high Andes forming the backbone of South America have a series of ridges that jut our east-west. In Chile, vital crystalline water crashes down the steep mountain valleys carving out short river courses to the Pacific and refreshing the bountiful riverbank crops and vineyards on its way. The malbec vineyard, planted on the south bank of the Tinguiririca River, produces a wine with tremendous elegance, and aromas of violets, blueberries and caramel.
