Domaine De La Croix Marie, Les Lisons Chinon 2014, Loire Valley, France
Tasting Note: Ruby in color with some purple highlights this Chinon has a nose of dry red and black fruit mixed with a small helping of spring green vegetables.
Barnyard blackberry, hibiscus and pre-bloom rose petal register on the nose along with bone-dry cedar mixed with violet and afternoon dew-soaked earth.
You smell this and right away know this is a French wine.
On the palate the wine is supple with soft tannin that gives way to subtle mid-palate complexity that completes with a bouncy, velvety, slightly round-but-yet-motivated finish.
A well-done Chinon that is ahead of the pack for the region.
Bottle Note: Red Loire wine – Cabernet Franc. Les Lisons (clay terrain) is a single 2.5 hectare parcel of vines located on the southern slopes of Ligré. This wine displays the clean, precise character of a great terroir of the left bank of Chinon. Very careful harvesting by hand allows us to create a wine with silky tannin and great elegance. It can be laid down for 5 years.
