Dona Paterna, Alvarinho 2018, Monção e Melgaço, Vinho Verde, Portugal
Tasting Note: The Alvarinho you order at a street-side restaurant in Lisbon and get exactly what Alvarinho promises to deliver.
Medium-intensity lemon in color, this wine has an aromatic, medium-plus-intensity nose of pear, quince, green apple, lemon-citrus and blossom.
On the palate the dry, medium-plus-bodied Alvarinho has medium-plus-intensity flavors suggested on the nose with added notes of micro-plane-grated, lemon-citrus zest.
The midpalate is in order and citrusy in all the right places.
Perfect to pair with seafood or the Iberico ham sandwich I’m having in the Lisbon airport.
Bottle Note: Dona Paterna is a vibrant, elegant, Alvarinho from northern Portugal, showing an ideal balance of fruit and acidity with a fruity, fresh flavor. Drink on its own or with grilled fish and seafood.
