Dry Creek Vineyard, Chenin Blanc 2015, Wilson Ranch, Clarksburg, California
Tasting Note: An enjoyable chenin blanc from Clarksburg.
Lemon-yellow in color this wine has an aromatic nose of honey, pear, mango and lemon citrus.
On the palate the medium-bodied wine is round on the attack followed by tart green fruit and lemon citrus supported by medium acidity.
A relatively straight-forward chenin blanc, ahead of the pack of California chenin blanc, with some notes of mid-palate complexity.
Bottle Note: Since 1972, chenin blanc has played an important role at our family winery. While many California wineries have given up on chenin blanc, we take the varietal seriously. Our chenin blanc is stainless steel fermented and sees no oak again, which helps to preserve the fresh tropical fruit aromas and flavors. The grapes for this wine come from Wilson Ranch in the Clarksburg appellation of the Sacramento Delta, an area that consistently grows outstanding chenin blanc. Residual sugar is 0.4% by weight.
