Element Winery, Red Table Wine 2010, Finger Lakes, New York
Tasting Note: A table wine that punches above its weight.
Medium-intensity ruby color, this wine has an aromatic, medium-plus-intensity nose of crushed raspberry, black plum, red-cherry peel, blackberry puree, hibiscus, dried-crushed-violet blossom, chamomile and moist hay.
On the palate the dry, medium-bodied red blend has medium-intensity flavors suggested on the nose supported by medium acidity and well-integrated medium tannin.
The wine is balanced with a supple midpalate.
The sort of table wine that is more than its moniker would otherwise suggest.
Bottle Note: Element Winery was founded to explore cool climate terroirs, to produce wines which express their origins without preconceived notions. Delicate wines, balanced with a focus on mineral and floral aromas and higher acids using a minimalist approach that allows the grapes to speak for themselves. Dedicated to producing small quantities of wines we love. Christopher P. Bates & Robert W. Bates.
