Famille Bougrier, Chenin Blanc 2015, IGP, Loire Valley, France
Tasting Note: A tart chenin blanc from the Loire Valley that will make you pucker – happily.
Pale lemon in color this wine has a nose of pear, green apple and starfruit.
On the palate the dry, medium-bodied chenin blanc expresses a medium-plus-intensity tartness on the attack followed by tart green fruit and medium plus acidity.
Mid-palate the wine expresses some of the minerality and brininess you often experience in Muscadet from the melon de Bourgogne grape.
I am a fan of wines of this style which would pair well with seafood and heavier white meat dishes that could benefit from an able palate cleanser worthy of its title.
Bottle Note: A family, a story, a passion . . . Since 1885, six generations of Bougrier have mastered the art of wine making in Loire Valley, creating delicate and subtle wines . . . We wish you a great pleasure tasting our wines. This great white shows characteristic flower, grapefruit and lime notes on the palate. To be fresh (50-54°F) as an ideal pairing for shellfish or poached seafood but also with chicken, salads . . .
