Fernando de Castilla, Antique Palo Cortado Sherry, Andalucía, Spain
Tasting Note: A Palo Cortado with maturity, grace and a healthy dose of buttery goodness that defines the inherent purgatory character of the wine.
Deep-intensity amber in color, this wine has an aromatic, medium-plus-intensity nose of slightly-browned butter, toast and freshly-toasted brioche with hints of fig.
On the palate the dry, medium-plus-bodied Palo Cortado Sherry has medium-plus-intensity flavors suggested on the nose completing with a medium-plus-intensity, rancio finish.
The wine has a lovely en rama cloudiness.
Bottle Note: This is the rarest type of Sherry combining the characteristics of the old Amontillado with the power and complexity of an Oloroso. The wine has only undergone a very light process of clarification and filtration and may throw a deposit after a prolonged period in the bottle. This does not affect the quality of the wine.
