Flying Trout, Cabernet Sauvignon 2017, Walla Walla, Washington
Tasting Note: While I’m not a fan of cabernet sauvignon in general, this one is hard not to enjoy – especially with a wintery midweek dinner.
Deep-intensity ruby in color, this wine has pronounced-intensity aromas of blackberry, black currant, raspberry puree, red plum and red cherry.
On the palate the dry, full-bodied cabernet presents ripe, black-fruit flavors suggested on the nose supported by medium acidity and velvety, ripe, medium-plus tannin.
The wine is in balance with the fruit and tannin structure complementing each other.
There is flavor concentration in the midpalate and some earthy notes on the medium-plus finish.
