Glenelly, Glass Collection Cabernet Franc 2015, Stellenbosch, South Africa
Tasting Note: Deep-intensity ruby in color, this wine has an aromatic nose of black plum, graphite, pencil shavings, cedar and raspberry.
On the palate the dry, medium-plus bodied cabernet franc shows flavors suggested on the nose supplemented by ripe, velvety, medium-plus tannin and medium-plus acidity.
There is structure and body along with mid-palate complexity and balance between the fruit and tannin.
Bottle Note: Glenelly winery is located on the lower slopes of the Simonsberg mountain, in the heart of Stellenbosch. It was purchased in 2003 by May de Lencequesaing, former owner of the iconic Chateau Pichon Longueville Comtesse de Lalande in France. The Glass Collection range was created after May’s lifelong passion for the art of glassmaking. The quality of the cabernet franc planted on the right terroir, enhanced by our winemaker’s skills, results in a complex and subtle spectrum of aromas illustrated here. Matured in French oaks barrels for 12 months.
