Glenelly, Glass Collection Syrah 2015, Stellenbosch, South Africa
Tasting Note: A syrah that is mostly straightforward in character with ripe black fruit being the main highlight.
Deep-intensity ruby in color, this wine has an aromatic nose of violet, black plum, raspberry, strawberry and blossom.
On the palate the dry, medium-plus bodied syrah is smooth in texture with black fruit flavors suggested on the nose.
There is flavor concentration and velvety, medium-plus tannin running throughout the wine completing with a medium finish.
Bottle Note: Glenelly winery is located on the lower slopes of the Simonsberg mountain, in the heart of Stellenbosch. It was purchased in 2003 by May de Lencequesaing, former owner of the iconic Chateau Pichon Longueville Comtesse de Lalande in France. The Glass Collection range was created after May’s lifelong passion for the art of glassmaking. The quality of the syrah planted on the right terroir, enhanced by our winemaker’s skills, results in a complex and subtle spectrum of aromas illustrated here. Matured in French oaks barrels for 12 months.
