Gonzalez Byass, Leonor 12-Year-Old Palo Cortado Sherry Seco, Andalucía, Spain
Tasting Note: A good introduction to Palo Cortado that captures the Sherry-style’s true essence.
Medium-plus-intensity amber in color, this wine has a medium-plus-intensity nose of just-churned butter, caramel, toasted almonds, fig, butter and vanilla baking spice.
On the palate the dry, medium-plus-bodied Palo Cortado Sherry has medium-plus-intensity flavors suggested on the nose ultimately completing with a lightly-buttery, medium-plus finish.
There are some notes of complexity on the midpalate.
If you like this, it only gets better as you sample more and older Palo Cortado.
Bottle Note: The elegance of a Palo Cortado at its best. Complex and powerful with notes of dried fruits, vanilla and fine wood achieving a refined character. Slightly chilled this wine is the perfect accompaniment to red meats and game.
