Grandview Vineyard, Grande Rouge 2016, Lancaster, Pennsylvania
Tasting Note: A silky prince of a red blend with a vibrant midpalate abounding with complexity.
Produced only in the finest years, this wine comes from Grandview’s best six barrels and has only been produced twice – in 2013 and 2016.
Deep-intensity ruby in color, this wine has an aromatic, medium-plus-intensity nose of blackberry, prune, red cherry, red currant, peach stone fruit, bramble and black plum.
On the palate the dry, medium-plus-bodied red blend has medium-plus-intensity flavors suggested on the nose supported by supple, ripe, medium tannin.
A gentlemen working on Wall Street visited the winery and tried to buy a whole palate of this wine, but they demurred so they could save some bottles for you.
Bottle Note: This wine represents The Vineyard at Grandview’s finest wine, made from grapes grown in our family vineyard and aged in French oak barrels for 22 months. Cabernet Sauvignon (32%), Merlot (48%), Cabernet Franc (16%) and Petit Verdot (4%).
