Hector Wine Company, Pinot Blanc 2014, Seneca Lake, New York
Tasting Note: Pinot blanc shows the heights it can reach at Hector Pass – among the best expressions of the grape you can find.
Lemon-to-gold in color, this pinot blanc has an aromatic nose of ripe green fruit including pear and green apple as well notes of vanilla, ginger and clove spice.
On the palate the pinot blanc displays depth and complexity on the attack with aromas on the nose continuing as flavors balanced by high acidity which rides under the impact of the fruit aged in neutral French oak barrel.
The wine presents as though it were indigenous-yeast fermented because of the multiple layers of flavor.
A standout white from a grape varietal in the New York Finger Lakes that does not get its fair share of due recognition.
