John Duval Wines, Plexus 2011, Barossa Valley, Australia
Tasting Note: An aged, Rhone-styled blend that refreshes with a host of green fruit.
Medium-intensity lemon in color, this wine has a nose of lemon-citrus peel, pear, melon and quince.
On the palate the dry, medium-bodied wine is balanced with respect to fruit and is medium in acidity.
Bottle Note: Four generations of my family have been vignerons in South Australia. Over the last three decades in the Barossa Valley I was given the opportunity to make Australia’s most famous wine. The inspiration to develop a new white wine from Marsanne, Roussanne and Viognier vineyards created Plexus combining elements into a coherent structure. Well managed vineyards, combined with meticulous, traditional winemaking and again in the best French oak for six months, has produced a wine with vibrance of fruit and palate texture. Marsanne 64%, Roussanne 25%, Viognier 11%.
