Kivelstadt Cellars, Father’s Watch Red Blend 2016, North Coast, California
Bottle Note: A tart, unpretentious, red-fruit-dominated blend.
Deep-intensity purple in color, this wine has an aromatic, medium-plus-intensity nose of red cherry, raspberry, red plum, strawberry and blossom.
On the palate the dry, medium-bodied red blend delivers tart, red-fruit flavors suggested on the nose supported by medium acidity and slightly-stalky, medium tannin.
The wine is mostly straightforward and would work well served chilled on a hot day.
Bottle Note: Bottle Number: 06310. My father’s watch keeps perfect time, ever since his father bought it in 1946. Great watches are a blend of precision, craft and creativity. This red Rhone-style blend is like that, the perfect mélange of art and science. Jordan Kivelstadt, Winemaker. Red wine. Carignane 32%, Grenache Noir 27%, Syrah 22%, Mourvedre 19%. v 2016.
