La Baume, Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve, Vin de France, France
Tasting Note: You don’t expect world-class cabernet for $7 on a plane, but certainly you certainly have a right to expect more than this.
Light ruby in color this cabernet sauvignon has a nose of sour red cherry with hints of blackberry and some faint Nyquil cough syrup aromas.
On the palate the wine is medium plus in acidity bordering on under ripe. The sour acidity hits you on the attack and rises above all else completely obfuscating any other flavor characteristics in the wine.
There is also a faint smoky quality but it’s too fleeting in aroma/flavor impact.
Compared to JetBlue’s white wine offering from the same producer, this red wine is disappointing.
