La Motte, The Pierneef Collection Syrah Viognier 2015, Western Cape, South Africa
Tasting Note: A complex syrah with flavor intensity.
Deep-intensity ruby in color, this wine has an aromatic nose of black currant, black plum, rose petal and a floral syrah quality that is reminiscent of the Northern Rhone.
On the palate the dry, full-bodied syrah has medium-plus tannin and flavors of black fruit suggested on the nose.
Bottle Note: As a tribute to Jacob Hendrik Pierneef (1866-1957), master in portraying the unadorned beauty of the South African landscape. La Motte presents this premium wine reflecting the noble art of the wine-making and the craftmanship of its vinicultural masters. 94% Syrah, 6% Viognier. This rich, supple wine combines the concentrated berry fruit and spice of syrah with the floral character of viognier to produce a complex, silky, dry red.
